About the Project

The Eindhoven University of Technology is seeking a highly motivated clinical PhD candidate to work on a project focused on pregnancy monitoring and cardiovascular systems. The project aims to investigate the coupling between the maternal and fetal cardiovascular systems during pregnancy, with the ultimate goal of improving pregnancy outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a clinical protocol for electrophysiological and ultrasound data acquisition, including study design and documentation for ethical approval.
  • Assess the plausibility and quality of results in terms of changes in coupling maps at different gestational ages and anomalies in pathological coupling maps from a physiological perspective.
  • Work on defining the best graphical representation of coupling maps in terms of clinical interpretability by obstetricians, gynecologists, and clinicians.
Academic and Research Environment

The project will be conducted at the Biomedical Diagnostics (BM/d) lab of the Signal Processing Systems (SPS) group, which has a strong track record in electrophysiological signal processing, physiological modeling, and quantitative analysis of biosignals. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with various members of the SPS group and collaborate with partners of the MAPPING project, including Máxima Medical Center.

Requirements
  • Master's degree in medicine or technical medicine.
  • Strong interest in clinical research.
  • Team player attitude, interested in collaborating with different teams.
  • High motivation and creativity, precise and structured.
  • Good communication and organization skills.
  • Excellent English language skills (writing and presenting).
Conditions of Employment
  • Full-time employment for four years, with an intermediate evaluation (go/no-go) after nine months.
