Our client is a world-renowned leader in deepwater ocean-infrastructure, specializing in Floating Production Storage & Offloading systems, floating wind, and carbon-cutting technologies. As a Cost Engineer, you will be part of their project team, working collaboratively with Planning, Contracts, Purchasing, Engineering, Construction, and Accounting teams to achieve shared objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project expenditure and develop cost trending to identify potential overruns early enough for the Project Manager to take proactive corrective actions.
  • Determine the cause of overruns or under runs by analyzing all available data.
  • Create a cost-conscious atmosphere within the project team, ensuring all members are aware of how their activities impact the project cost, including applicable Contractual issues.
  • Build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to get commercial and technical input and meet shared objectives.
  • Apply and adapt corporate cost control methodology to the project.
  • Establish the initial Budget, incorporating relevant technical, cost data, and assumptions from the Estimating phase.
  • Minimize project costs by examining all activities from a cost reduction perspective.
  • Prepare cost estimates for possible design or project execution changes.
  • Analyze the project budget, technical, and commercial data using trending, earned value, and in-house methods to prepare monthly project cost forecasts.
  • Consolidate results in the Cost Control Monthly Report.
  • Assist in formulating Project Financial Reports for Senior Management.
  • Identify and prepare Project Variation Orders for approval.
  • Provide cost information for verification or as input to change requests.
  • Ensure high-quality cost information is provided to the Corporate Estimating Department.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the offshore or shipbuilding industries in Estimating or Project roles.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) and Dutch (verbal and written).
  • Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a methodical approach.
  • Able to analyze information and comfortable with data.
  • Solid IT skills, with good knowledge of MS Excel and ability to learn specialist software.
  • Excellent team-working attitude, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work to meet objectives and deadlines.
