The RoleWe are recruiting a General Counsel & Corporate Secretary with proven managerial skills and a forward-looking, entrepreneurial mindset. As a key member of our Management Team, you will co-drive, facilitate, and monitor significant growth plans, keeping stakeholders informed of their legal and compliance responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities- Oversee all legal, compliance, and governance matters as the principal legal advisor
- Manage the organization's legal interests, mitigating risks, and ensuring adherence to industry regulations across all business operations
- Maintain corporate records, facilitate communication with the Board, and ensure compliance with corporate governance standards
- Provide expert and strategic legal advice to a team of 5 legal counsels
- Anticipate legal issues and/or compliance risks, act as Compliance Officer, grow legal and compliance awareness, and instill a motivated, accountable corporate culture
- Experienced legal professional/team manager with a Dutch Law background and 12+ years PQE, highly capable of leading people and driving results
- Broad corporate and commercial background, including governance and managing litigation
- An interest in compliance regarding trading and distribution, as well as providing training on relevant topics
- Steady and resilient problem solver with an international mindset and a business focus, able to work in a highly commercial environment
- Strong communicator and negotiator, fluent in Dutch and English
We offer a challenging position for an experienced, hands-on, and pragmatic legal professional in a highly entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and fun environment with an open culture. You will participate in the Management Team and report directly to the CFO, contributing actively to the further growth of our organization.
Our Leiden headquarters provides a great location for this role, with flexibility to work one day from home.
Estimated salary: €120,000 - €180,000 per year, depending on experience.
