Project OverviewCounterfactual explanations are a type of explainable AI that proposes minimal changes to the input data that would lead to a different model output. However, current counterfactual explanations are not aware of the semantics of the input features, which can lead to impractical or even impossible changes. Our goal is to develop a metric that can automatically evaluate the practicality of counterfactual explanations, taking into account the semantic understanding of the input features.
Responsibilities- Design and develop a new evaluation metric for counterfactual explanations
- Integrate advanced language models like GPT to gauge the practicality of counterfactuals
- Conduct a user study to evaluate the practicality of different state-of-the-art counterfactual techniques
- Compare the accuracy of the proposed metric with human evaluations
- Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. computer science, data science, AI)
- Strong background in machine learning and AI
- Experience with language models and natural language processing
- Excellent programming skills (e.g. Python, R)
- Good communication and teamwork skills
