About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team at Jumbo Maritime. As a Legal Counsel, you will play a critical role in advising our business on legal matters, providing practical and pragmatic advice to minimize legal risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting and Reviewing Contracts: You will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and advising on contracts of carriage, construction, and installation contracts, as well as other (sub)contracts.
  • Contractual Advice and Guidance: You will provide contractual advice and guidance during ongoing projects, ensuring that our business is fully compliant with relevant legislation, legal policies, and procedures.
  • Negotiation and Communication: You will negotiate with clients, suppliers, contractors, and authorities, providing clear and concise communication to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Claims Management: You will manage and control (insurance) claims related to both the fleet and the office, including cooperation with internal and external parties.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Maritime Law: You must hold a Master's degree in Maritime Law, Business Law, or International Law.
  • Relevant Work Experience: You must have at least 5 years of relevant work experience as an in-house lawyer or at a private firm.
  • Negotiation and Contracting Skills: You must be proficient in negotiating (commercial) contracts and have a solid knowledge of Offshore Contracts (BIMCO Charter Parties, LOGIC, FIDIC).
  • Language Skills: You must be fully conversant in English (verbally and in writing).
  • Hands-on Mentality: You must have a 'hands-on mentality' and be available for 4 or 5 days a week.
