Internship in Photonic Ultrasound Transducers

TNO is seeking a highly motivated and skilled intern to join our team in the development of photonic ultrasound transducers. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project that aims to enhance the sensitivity of ultrasound imaging systems.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and design new photonic ultrasound sensors using silicon-nitride, polymer, and lithium niobate materials
- Work with physics simulation software (COMSOL) and photonic modelling and design software (Photon Design, Lumerical)
- Participate in the fabrication process at the VU under supervision of an expert
- Assess the optical performance of fabricated devices and analyze discrepancies with expectations
- Integrate sensor chips into modules with acoustic and optical interfaces and establish opto-acoustic performance
- Completed bachelor in physics or similar
- Programming skills in MATLAB, Python, or other languages
- Modelling skills using COMSOL
- Basic knowledge of optics, acoustics, and micro-mechanics
- Understanding of signal analysis and Fourier transforms
- General experimental skills
