Job Summary:
The HKU is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Officer/Senior Technical Officer to join our team in the Centre for Comparative Medicine Research. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking technical and staff supervision/management duties in connection with the operation of a laboratory animal facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage the daily operations of the laboratory animal facility, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Provide technical guidance and support to staff members, including training and development programs.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for animal care and welfare, ensuring the highest standards of animal husbandry and laboratory animal science.
- Collaborate with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives, promoting a culture of excellence and innovation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field, such as animal science, biology, or a related discipline.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese, with the ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience in animal husbandry, operation and maintenance of equipment for sanitation and sterilisation, or inventory/record keeping is an advantage but not essential.
