Company Overview:

Damen Shipyards is a leading manufacturer of naval vessels, and we are seeking a talented Ship Structural Hull Monitoring System Engineer to join our team.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work on advanced naval vessels, incorporating digital twin technology and wave monitoring. As a full-time intern or graduate student, you will be responsible for designing and integrating Hull Monitoring Systems, creating tools for post-processing data, and predicting sea state parameters.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • You will select or develop analysis methods and engineering tools for your research goals.
  • You will plan and execute your research project from day one.
  • You will deliver a detailed in-depth analysis of your research problem.
  • You will communicate results and conclusions to other departments.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • You must be a Master's student in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Naval Architecture.
  • You should be passionate about ships and shipbuilding.
  • You should be independent, curious, analytical, and proactive.
  • You should be familiar with hydromechanics and ship structures.
  • You should have basic experience with simulation tools (e.g., Openfoam, Ansys, Femap, LS-Dyna) or be able to become familiar with this subject quickly.
  • You should be able to use programming tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
  • You should be capable of identifying and communicating with multiple stakeholders.
  • You should be able to take responsibility for your own planning and project management.
  • You should have a good command of Dutch and English language both written and verbal.
