We're seeking a skilled engineer to join our team, contributing to high-speed photonic integrated circuit design and creating technical differentiation for SMART Photonics. Together, we'll redefine the era of photonics integrated circuits by building innovative circuitry.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Technology Competence Centre as a technology consultant for PICs, providing guidance to the R&D program.
  • Perform behavioural modelling of building blocks and integrated circuits.
  • Assist customers in simulating functionality and performance of their photonics circuits, and support design teams with DfX considerations.
  • Understand design requirements for complex PICs to enhance our PDK in terms of performance, functionality, and completeness.
  • Explore trade-offs of existing processes, propose optimal solutions, and achieve or exceed requirements in terms of power, design, linearity, and bandwidth.
  • Develop design testing plans and collaborate with cross-functional teams to characterise the functionality and performance of PIC reference designs.
  • Work with customers to design testing plans.
  • Stay up-to-date with market requirements and translate them into specs for our current and future building blocks.
  • Translate market requirements into a feasible Technology roadmap to strengthen the capabilities of the foundry and maintain its leading position.

We're looking for a professional who:

Must-haves:

  • PhD degree in Integrated Photonics (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven track record of designing complex PICs.
  • Comprehensive Foundry/PIC designer/customer-related industry experience of over 10 years.
  • Outstanding knowledge of PIC design for optical communications, LiDAR, and/or sensing.
  • Strong analytical abilities, diagnosing issues, and proposing practical, effective, and innovative solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, self-confidence, and ability to connect with people, win their trust, and respect.
  • Drive to deliver high-quality results and be self-critical.
  • Embracing opportunities for skill development, staying up-to-date with the latest developments, and industry best practices.
  • Available to travel occasionally to international conferences, project meetings, and customers.
