Job Opportunity

At ORTEC, we are seeking a talented master student to contribute to the development of a hybrid genetic search algorithm for the Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows (VRPTW). Our team has built a winning solver for the DIMACS 2022 challenge, and we aim to further improve its performance.

Your Challenge

You will work on PyVRP, an open-source implementation of the hybrid genetic search algorithm, and evaluate its performance on large real-world problem instances. Your task will be to optimize parameters, implement new initialization strategies, or develop additional genetic algorithm concepts to maximize performance.

Requirements

  • You are a master student in computer science, operations research, or artificial intelligence.
  • You have experience with Python and optimization algorithms.
  • You are comfortable with compiled languages like C++ and have experience with running computational jobs on cloud infrastructure.
  • You are fluent in English and have excellent communication skills.
  • You are available for 6 months, working 32-40 hours per week.
