Job Summary

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Assistant I to join our team in the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy. As a Research Assistant I, you will be responsible for assisting in research projects related to anti-cancer herbal medicines and natural products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct cell biology experiments using cell lines and clinical samples, and assist in animal studies under the supervision of Professor Clara Lau.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of research projects, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Collaborate with researchers and other team members to achieve project goals.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research reports, papers, and presentations.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or MPhil degree in pharmacology, pharmacy, biomedical science, cancer biology, or a related discipline.
  • At least 1-year research experience, preferably in herbal medicines and/or cancer research.
  • Experience in cell culture and animal handling.
  • Experience in phytochemistry, immunohistochemistry, advanced molecular biology, and microbiome studies would be an advantage.
  • Self-motivated, organized, with strong sense of responsibility, able to work independently and within a team.
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.

What We Offer

The appointment will commence on a 1-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
