Academic Excellence in Chinese Medicine

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, HKU seeks a distinguished Tenure-Track Professor to join the School of Chinese Medicine. This is a tenure-track position with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year contract, subject to satisfactory performance.
The successful candidate should possess a recognized Bachelor's degree in Chinese Medicine registrable with the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong and a Ph.D. degree in Chinese Medicine or related fields. A distinguished track record of research and scholarship in the field of Chinese Medicine is required, along with substantial experience in teaching in tertiary institution(s), practicing experience, evidence of international recognition for scholarship and professional expertise, a track record of community engagement, an understanding of the East Asia context, particularly Hong Kong and mainland China, and proficiency in both Chinese and English.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
Responsibilities:- Develop and maintain a high-quality research program that aligns with the School of Chinese Medicine's strategic objectives.
- Teach courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including topics such as Chinese medicine theory, clinical practice, and research methods.
- Mentor students and supervise research projects.
- Engage in service activities within the School and University, including committee work, curriculum development, and student advising.
