We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD researcher to join our team at Eindhoven University of Technology. The successful candidate will be part of the iSense Doctoral Network on In-Situ Monitoring of Electromagnetic Interference, a European Doctoral Network funded by the Marie-Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network.
Project OverviewThe project focuses on developing specialized machine-learning tools to extract and recreate essential features of a medical electromagnetic environment. The researcher will address both frequency-domain and time-domain variations to encompass both continuous and transient disturbances. The goal is to establish a comprehensive framework for assessing the long-term impact of dynamic EMI environments.
Expected Outcomes- A suite of specialized machine-learning tools and algorithms designed explicitly for a healthcare-related electromagnetic environment.
- Assessment of temporal dependencies and long-term patterns in healthcare-related EM environments.
The researcher will work on the following objectives:
- Develop machine-learning tools to extract and recreate essential features of a medical EMI environment.
- Address both frequency-domain and time-domain variations to encompass both continuous and transient disturbances.
- Establish a comprehensive framework for assessing the long-term impact of dynamic EMI environments.
The researcher will participate in two secondments:
- Academic secondment: UGR, Salvador Gonzalez Garcia, M23-M25, Impact assessment of photovoltaic installations.
- Industrial secondment: PHC, Rob Kleihorst, M29-M32, 3M, Impact assessment of the changing nature of a medical electromagnetic environment.
To be eligible for this position, the candidate should have a MSc degree or be expected to obtain it by the end of 2025 in electrical engineering or a relevant field. The candidate should also have good communicative skills and the ability to work in a research team.
Conditions of EmploymentThe successful candidate will receive an attractive salary in accordance with the MSCA regulations for DCs. The gross salary includes a living allowance, a mobility allowance, and a family allowance, depending on the candidate's situation.
The PhD funding is guaranteed for 36 months, and additional funding may be available for the required time to finish the PhD if the candidate fulfills all technical requirements at the end of the 36 months.
The researcher will benefit from further continuing education, including internships and secondments, training modules, and transferable skills for the Jobs of Tomorrow.
