About the Role

Plug Power is seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to join our Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the specification, design, integration, testing and continual support of high voltage & low voltage electrical equipment for the power distribution or process control of PEM electrolysis-based hydrogen generation systems.

This role requires close interaction with cross-discipline engineering, delivery, manufacturing, construction, and new product introduction teams. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, able to handle multiple assignments and willing to learn and adapt in a fast-paced product engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops electrical system requirements, electrical schematics, single line drawings, and field wiring diagrams;
  • Responsible for the technical design, including cost efficiency and conformity to customer specifications, as per agreed schedule;
  • Responsible for clear and correct engineering documentation;
  • Handles technical communication with external engineering parties and where applicable with clients;
  • Takes ownership of design and additional department requirements;
  • Early identification to department head of areas of concern with necessary corrective action identified;
  • Ensures an adequate knowledge level is maintained in the field of expertise;
  • Is well-versed with (International) Codes & Standards, e.g. CE, IEC, ATEX, EMC and ensures that designs complies with applicable electrical codes & standards/legislation;
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering;
  • At least 5 years of experience as an electrical engineer, preferably in the renewable energy sector;
  • Working knowledge of high voltage equipment such as transformers, rectifiers, power supplies, and switchgear required;
  • Experience with EU directives (CE, ATEX, EMC, LV) preferred;
  • Experience with hazardous area codes & standards (CE, IEC, ATEX, EMC etc.) preferred;
  • Must be capable of working independently, in a fast-paced environment, with minimal supervision;
  • Sound organizational skills for completing tasks as scheduled;
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written for the purpose of explaining challenges and solutions internally;
Compensation and Benefits
