Tax Accounting in a Dynamic Environment

Booking is seeking a skilled Tax Accounting professional to contribute to our Global Accounting team in Amsterdam. As a Tax Accounting Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in leading current and deferred income tax calculations, effective tax rate calculations for group reporting, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and/or review effective tax rate (ETR) computations, income tax calculations for Booking entities, including current and deferred tax provision, return to provision (RTP) adjustments, and uncertain tax positions (UTPs).
  • Analyze ETR and tax provision calculations, including current tax payable and receivable, deferred tax assets and liabilities, valuation allowances, UTPs, to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Manage CIT compliance activities such as conducting reviews of CIT returns, addressing regulatory requirements, arranging income tax payments, etc.
  • Prepare and/or review tax-related balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial information and supporting documentation.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of tax-related internal controls, ensuring effectiveness and adequacy of controls related to tax processes and financial reporting.
  • Develop and maintain tax accounting policies and procedures in accordance with applicable accounting standards (e.g. ASC 740), ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and standardize tax accounting processes across all regions to ensure income tax compliance and accurate tax reporting.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors regarding tax accounting matters.
  • Coordinate with external advisors on CIT filings and compliance for regional entities.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and drive change, focusing on automation and simplification of tasks related to tax accounting and compliance.
  • Partner closely with Financial Controllers, Tax Managers, and other key Finance stakeholders to align on priorities and support cross-functional projects.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Accounting, Business, or Economics and/or postgraduate education (RA/CPA).
  • Minimum 5-8 years' experience in finance and/or accounting, preferably within tax accounting and multinational corporate environment.
  • Sound knowledge of US GAAP and tax principles, with the ability to interpret tax legislation/accounting standards and translate it into practice.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in SAP S4 HANA, OneStream, OneSource Tax Provision, and advanced MS Excel.
  • Experience working in a team in an international company and matrix organization.
  • Track record in successfully representing finance in cross-functional projects.
  • Adaptability and capability to lead and drive change, with analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to see the bigger picture while preparing detailed calculations.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic and high-change environment.
