Sustainability Officer

Van Hessen is a leading global player in the harvesting, processing and distribution of natural casings, meat products and raw materials for the pharmaceutical industry.

The company operates worldwide with gutrooms inside slaughterhouses, enabling a constant flow of raw materials for customers.

The role of the Sustainability Specialist is to contribute to the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives across Van Hessen's worldwide operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Sustainability Manager based in the Netherlands Head Office.

Responsibilities include:

• Facilitating ESG reporting and data consolidation through the organization's ESG data management system
• Collaborating with local management and finance personnel to enhance data scope and quality, and carbon accounting in-line with reporting requirements
• Identifying, prioritizing and coordinating sustainability/decarbonization projects
• Generating performance and progress reports for environmental metrics
• Developing and disseminating communication materials to raise awareness of sustainability program objectives across the group
• Monitoring relevant regulations and ensuring compliance with ESG reporting requirements
• Assisting in the coordination of stakeholder engagement to increase the quality of indirect emission calculation and potential collaborations

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's or master's degree in finance, business administration, sustainable development, sustainable business or a related field.

Fluency in English and Dutch is essential, along with excellent analytical skills, the ability to interpret and analyze complex data sets, and a desire to understand ESG frameworks, standards and reporting requirements.

A strong understanding of corporate sustainability, ESG reporting or a related field is advantageous.

The candidate should be able to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders effectively.

Experience in Microsoft Suite and data visualization systems is highly valued.
