Key Responsibilities
As our Product Development Manager and R&D Flavor Expert, your role encompasses a dynamic mix of creativity and precision, focusing on two primary areas:
1. Advancing Technology Development:
At the core of innovation, you will lead efforts to advance science for plant-based and clean-label products. Collaborating closely with both internal and external experts, you will deliver cutting-edge technology to create the finest food products globally. This entails working with current suppliers and actively seeking new partners with expertise in flavors and taste-enhancing ingredients. Your refined palate and comprehensive understanding of flavor chemistry will be essential as you enhance our flavors and recipes through the manipulation of ingredient properties.
2. Managing Technical Portfolio:
Your focus will be on cheese and cream cheese solutions, ensuring proactive maintenance and management of our flavor portfolio and suppliers. In both laboratory and field settings, you will collaborate with suppliers to develop and test solutions on a pilot scale, facilitating a smooth transition to full-scale implementation. You will meticulously manage factors such as quality, cost, and the complexity of the flavor portfolio, ensuring that clear quality and financial targets are established and met with our suppliers for product development.
Your expertise guarantees that specifications remain relevant and up-to-date, with all documentation readily accessible for any challenges that may arise.
- Supplier Management: Regularly assess and challenge current suppliers on performance and innovation through site visits and workshops.
- Supplier Scouting: Identify and evaluate suppliers based on their technical capabilities.
- Knowledge Management: Ensure that all new insights are documented and shared with the broader R&D community when relevant.
Qualifications
- A master's degree or PhD in Chemistry, Food Chemistry, or a related field relevant to flavor chemistry.
- Over 5 years, preferably 10 years, of professional experience in the industry.
- Exceptional taste perception, with experience in sensory evaluation preferred.
- A proven track record in flavor development and flavor masking techniques.
- Experience with quality management systems is advantageous.
