Protein Drying Technologist

We are seeking an experienced Spray Drying Scientist/Technologist/Engineer to lead technology efforts in optimizing drying processes and developing bio-active food ingredients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in spray drying technology, product formulations, coupled with expertise in data analysis and food science, to lead technology development and continuous improvement impacting our enzyme product formulations and manufacturing processes.

• Design, optimize, and scale-up of spray drying processes to produce bio-active food/protein ingredients;
• Utilize advanced data analysis techniques to interpret drying characteristics and optimize product quality, yield, and functionality;
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Innovation, R&D, engineering, and production, to develop novel food ingredient formulations and improve stability of existing enzymatic products;
• Collaborate with external manufacturers, conduct experimental trials, analyze data, and interpret results to identify process improvements and optimize spray drying conditions;
• Develop and implement modeling and process control methodologies to capture powder characteristics with process data to transfer knowledge in effective way to various stakeholders;
• Troubleshoot product and process issues, implementing corrective actions to ensure optimal performance and product quality;
• Identify and test new technology improving product characteristics, meeting regulatory, quality, and safety requirements and/or reducing the carbon footprint of the drying and formulation processes;
• Take a lead role in shaping projects and opportunities together with our business partners and translate project goals into concrete and accepted workplans for process and formulation development;
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in drying, product delivery formats, and data analysis, and apply knowledge to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

• Reward: Based on your experience, we will offer you a base salary of €76,594 to €125,562 per year (including holiday allowance and 13th month) and extra benefits, such as 25 holiday days, a bonus, the option to buy more holiday days with a 6% my choice budget and much more.

• Master's, EngD. or Ph.D. degree in food science, bio-chemical engineering, or related field;
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in spray drying process development and optimization, preferably in the bio-active food/protein ingredient industry with relevant years of Ph.D. counted as experience;
• Strong expertise in data analysis, predictive modeling, and experimental design;
• In-depth knowledge of bio-active food ingredient functionality, powder characterization, formulation, encapsulation, and stability;
• Proficiency in spray drying equipment operation and troubleshooting of general downstream processing;
• Demonstrated ability to actively mentor, advise, and manage junior team members for successful outcomes (both project and profession development related);
• Excellent communication (English) and collaboration skills, representing the drying expertise in the multi-disciplinary project teams and in interactions with the business partners;
• Affinity to transfer processes from lab to manufacturing and back again and serve as sparring partner for process technologists at the production sites;
• Role will be pivotal in spearheading and molding the formulations of bioactive products and drying technology, adeptly engaging with stakeholders from both business and manufacturing viewpoints.
