About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Insurance Specialist to join our team at SBM Offshore. As a key member of our insurance department, you will be responsible for providing expert advice on insurance matters related to construction, property, and liability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and timely contractual risk reviews to internal clients, focusing on indemnity, liability, and insurance clauses.
  • Procure, negotiate, and review Group Insurance policies with insurance brokers and companies worldwide.
  • Collate underwriting information and inform relevant business disciplines on insurance costs for bids, projects, and the operational fleet.
  • Engage with external parties, including joint venture partners and clients, and a range of insurance providers and service suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with insurance laws and regulations and promote best practices throughout the company.
  • Liaise with different roles to create awareness and provide education on insurance requirements, including online learning and reference materials.
  • Report key insurance issues, claim developments, and risks to the Insurance team, including lessons learned and improvement areas.

Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent in relevant disciplines.
  • Insurance and/or Risk Management qualifications (ideally).
  • Fluent English is a must (spoken and written), with a second fluent language such as Dutch, French, and/or Portuguese a plus.
  • A minimum of 10 years in-house experience in a legal/insurance department, preferably in an Offshore Construction or Oil & Gas company, or 10 years of experience with an insurance broker/P&I Club and/or insurance consultancy company.
  • High-level understanding of insurance and risk issues in Offshore Construction and/or Oil & Gas industry.
  • Experience in procuring and negotiating Construction All Risk/Builders All Risk insurance for large offshore construction projects, Hull & Machinery, Protection & Indemnity (P&I), Offshore Property, War risks, and Comprehensive General Liability policies on the international/London/Lloyds of London insurance market.
  • Experience in providing legal review in relation to indemnity/liability and insurance clauses in EPCI and Offshore Construction contracts.
