Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher in Machine Learning to join our team at the University of Amsterdam. The successful candidate will be part of our collaborative research lab, Delta Lab 2, and will work closely with our researchers to develop novel methodologies for machine learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Invent and evaluate novel methodologies for machine learning
  • Show that these methods have practical consequences
  • Present research by contributing to international conferences, workshops, and journals
  • Assist in teaching activities, including teaching courses and supervising master and Ph.D. students
  • Actively participate in Delta Lab 2 activities, including visits to the Bosch headquarters in Germany
  • Help with day-to-day operations of Delta Lab 2, including updating the lab website and reporting on lab progress and deliverables

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience in programming and software development, with familiarity with Python and statistical computing libraries (e.g., NumPy, PyTorch, JAX)
  • Enthusiasm for the scientific process, including formulating and conducting experiments, data collection and analysis, and disseminating findings via writing and oral presentations
  • Ability to cooperate and work effectively within a team
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken

What We Offer:

  • A temporary employment contract for 38 hours per week for a period of 24 months
  • A gross monthly salary, based on 38 hours per week and dependent on relevant experience, ranging between €3,345 to €5,278 (scale 10)
  • An extensive package of secondary benefits, including 8% holiday allowance and a year-end bonus of 8.3%
  • The possibility to set up a workplace at home
  • A pension at ABP, with the University of Amsterdam paying two-thirds of the contribution
  • The possibility to follow courses to learn Dutch
  • Help with housing for a studio or small apartment when moving from abroad
