Job Overview
As a Captain at Oceanwide, you play a vital role in steering towage operations with precision and safety. Your leadership will be instrumental in managing the tugboat and orchestrating towing activities to guarantee effective collaboration between maritime vessels and shore facilities. Your duties encompass detailed navigation of the vessel, direct oversight of the crew, and ensuring adherence to all operational protocols and safety regulations. You will represent our organization and our clients with integrity while managing communications with other vessels and port authorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the crew and supervising all facets of towage operations.
- Navigating the vessel in accordance with stringent safety standards.
- Maintaining effective communication with port authorities and other maritime vessels.
- Ensuring safety during towing operations, safeguarding both the vessel and its cargo.
- Identifying and addressing technical and operational challenges in partnership with the engineering team.
- Reporting on operational progress and any incidents to the shipping company.
Qualifications:
- Valid certifications such as STCW.
- Unrestricted Master's license.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Master, ideally on towage vessels.
- Familiarity with ASD or Voith Schneider systems is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Strong leadership capabilities and navigation expertise.
- Comprehensive understanding of maritime regulations and towage practices.
- Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to manage emergencies effectively.
