The Photonic Integration Technology Center (PITC) is a leading R&D institute, founded by the Eindhoven University of Technology (TUe), the University of Twente (UT), TNO located at Holst Centre, and PhotonDelta. Our mission is to accelerate the uptake of integrated photonics by helping industrial partners bridge the gap between research and commercialization.

PITC is located in Eindhoven and Enschede in the Netherlands, with access to excellent research facilities: the NanoLabs in Eindhoven and Enschede, featuring world-leading technology platforms based on indium phosphide and silicon nitride. We're looking for an R&D Scientist to join our team and contribute to the development of more efficient and compact photonic-electronic systems.

Job Description

As an R&D Scientist at PITC, you'll be instrumental in advancing high-precision assembly and interconnect of photonic components. Your work will focus on designing, fabricating, and validating optical and electronic interconnect and assembly processes for next-generation photonic devices and systems.

  • Design and develop advanced micro-assembly techniques and materials science solutions.
  • Collaborate with international customers on projects, sharing expertise and taking on key responsibilities.
Required Skills and Qualifications

You'll thrive in this role if you have a solid background in photonics, semiconductors, or a related field, with specific experience in high-precision chip alignment. A PhD in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or materials science is required, along with 5 years of experience in the semiconductor industry in advanced chip packaging and high-precision chip assembly.

We're seeking candidates with strong communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with international partners. Proven experience in designing and fabricating optical and electronic interconnects is essential.
