About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our close-knit Legal & Compliance team at Recharge.com in Amsterdam.

As a Legal Counsel, you will have the opportunity to work on a broad spectrum of exciting matters on a daily basis, including data protection regulation compliance across the Recharge group and commercial projects.

You will report to and be a sparring partner of the Head of Legal & Compliance, and work closely together with the other in-house counsel and stakeholders in the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support our growth by learning and gaining experience in the dynamic world of FinTech
  • Work on a broad spectrum of exciting matters on a daily basis, including reviewing, negotiating, and drafting high-end contracts
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulation and corporate housekeeping
  • Play an important role in building our legal function, negotiating contracts, supporting M&A projects, and ensuring compliance
  • Operate independently, proactively, and cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams across the company
  • Be responsible for your own projects and activities, and have the opportunity to make an immediate impact

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Law, preferably from a Dutch university
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in both Dutch and English, with the ability to present complex matters comfortably, clearly, and to the point
  • At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in a law firm, in-house, or consulting environment, including drafting and negotiating contracts
  • Extensive knowledge of privacy laws and experience in ensuring GDPR compliance, preferably acting as DPO
  • Experience in negotiating IT contracts
  • Familiarity with the payment and/or financial services industries and knowledge of associated regulatory frameworks, issues, and challenges
  • A hands-on, self-propelling approach, with good business acumen and commercial pragmatism
  • Consistent good judgement and ability to help create pragmatic business solutions, while managing legal risk
  • The ability to get the job done under pressure and constructively adapt to change
  • A digital mindset, with a positive and personable approach, and great influencing and communication skills
