About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD researcher to join our team at the University of Twente. The successful candidate will work on the development of advanced metrology techniques for high power laser applications, with a focus on additive manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement novel metrology techniques for high power laser processing
  • Develop and optimize sensor systems for real-time monitoring of laser-material interaction
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers to integrate metrology systems into laser-based manufacturing processes
  • Conduct experiments and data analysis to validate metrology techniques and sensor systems
  • Develop and implement algorithms for sensor fusion and data processing
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Applied Physics, Photonics, Materials Science, or a closely related field
  • Experience in experimental optics, imaging, and spectroscopy
  • Good knowledge of sensor fusion and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning concepts
  • Knowledge of fundamental aspects of laser-material processing and additive manufacturing
  • Excellent analysis and communication skills
  • English language proficiency
