The digitalization of our society and economy has led to a dependency on information and communication technologies, resulting in serious risks related to cyber security. With everything online, from simple devices like smart lightbulbs to complex systems like medical MRI scanners, we are facing a new reality where the blending of cyber and physical worlds requires a broader perspective on security.
INTERSECT takes us towards an Internet of Secure Things by being multi-disciplinary and considering multiple perspectives; Design, Defense, Attack, Governance, and Privacy. We have two PhD positions available within INTERSECT, focusing on defense and collaborative security monitoring and response, and a more general call on IoT security within the mentioned perspectives.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research in the field of IoT security, focusing on defense and collaborative security monitoring and response.
- Develop new ways to detect and identify attacks, attackers, and suitable responses in collaboration with others.
- Contribute to the development of secure IoT systems and protocols.
- Collaborate with industrial partners to ensure the relevance of the research.
- A master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- A strong background and interest in cybersecurity.
- Experience in network monitoring, collaborative security, and/or machine learning is welcome but not required.
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and collaborate with industrial partners.
- Initiative and motivation to work independently.
- Interest in developing teaching skills and coaching students.
- Fluent in spoken and written English (C2/C1 level).
- Full-time employment for four years, with an intermediate evaluation after nine months.
- Salary and benefits in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, PhD scale.
