We invite applications for the position of Lecturer in the Medical Ethics and Humanities Unit of the School of Clinical Medicine . This role is a two-year fixed-term appointment, with the potential for renewal based on performance.
Candidates should hold a master's or doctoral degree in health science-related fields, bioethics, or humanities, and possess at least three years of post-qualification experience in both research and teaching. A proven history of effective teaching in bioethics or medical ethics, along with significant experience in curriculum design and innovation, is essential. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with undergraduate students are critical. Experience within the local healthcare sector is advantageous.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning and delivery of the MBBS medical ethics and law curriculum, which may include both in-person and online teaching as required. Additionally, they will contribute to the ongoing development of a cohesive and contextually relevant framework for medical ethics education, integrating relevant content into other areas of the MBBS curriculum.
In light of the evolving landscape of higher education, the appointee will be responsible for creating innovative teaching and learning experiences, including the incorporation of educational technologies. They will also assist in developing assessment tasks and examination questions as needed, as well as designing faculty development and student engagement initiatives related to medical ethics.
A competitive salary will be offered, commensurate with qualifications and experience, along with annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment includes a contract-end gratuity and a university contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, amounting to up to 15% of the basic salary.
