About Data Solution
We're hiring software engineers for our Data Solution team in Amsterdam. Our Data Solution strategy is multifaceted, with data forming the backbone of our business and product insights. Our teams in Amsterdam use data to detect and prevent fraud, optimize payments transactions, build tools for scalability, and enrich our onboarding and transaction platforms with key information metrics.
Software Engineer in Data
As a Software Engineer in Data, you'll be building and training the brain behind the Adyen platform, focusing on scaling access to intelligence and capabilities for businesses to realize their ambitions. We're looking for a curious software engineer who understands the business context and data needs, and can design and implement quality software for other teams and/or customers. Your role is pivotal in advancing our data-driven initiatives and contributing to the creation and enhancement of our dynamic data product suite.
Key Responsibilities
- Work on complex technical projects from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing, and launch into production.
- Offer support and technical guidance in software architectural discussions.
- Identify and improve parts of the platform to make it more robust and scalable.
- Bring your own point of view on best engineering practices.
- Your code will be used at scale, and you're expected to think in that mindset when building features.
- Build data products and tooling according to quality principles such as performance and code quality.
- Collaborate across teams and sometimes across time zones to get projects over the finish line.
- Establish and spread best coding solutions across the Data Solution and beyond.
Requirements
- You have excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in front of different stakeholders.
- You have experience with Core Java, web services, REST APIs, and SQL/PostgreSQL.
- You're knowledgeable about various software architecture paradigms such as event-driven or message queueing systems.
- You have experience in deploying on containers.
- You have a good understanding of Software Engineering practices and interest in product knowledge.
- You're familiar with complex large-scale distributed systems.
- You like to challenge the status quo and ask the 'why' question.
- You enjoy working in a cross-functional team with roles like Data Science, Frontend, and Product.
- You have a sharp eye for detail and know how to balance precision with pragmatism.
- You love learning new things and can make good choices based on thorough research.
- You value involving other people to hear different perspectives.
- You have an experimental mindset with a launch fast and iterate mentality.
What We Offer
- We work hybrid, meaning you'll work at least 3 days per week from the office.
- This is a full-time position.
