Position Overview
The role of Central Marketing & IP Legal Manager is situated within the Intellectual Property Team, which is integrated into the broader Legal, Compliance, and Corporate Affairs Team. This diverse team collaborates to facilitate mutual learning, growth, and development. As the Marketing & IP Legal Manager, you will serve as the primary legal resource for the Central Marketing Team. Your responsibilities will include providing legal guidance on marketing initiatives, approving marketing claims, and negotiating and drafting agreements related to intellectual property.
We seek a professional who not only possesses legal expertise but also excels in interpersonal communication and is driven to achieve success. Your contributions will be vital in shaping and safeguarding the impact we aspire to create within our value chain. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing daily legal counsel on marketing deliverables, both on-pack and off-pack.
- Acting as a sustainability advocate by ensuring marketing initiatives comply with legal standards aligned with JDE Peet's risk appetite.
- Negotiating and drafting commercial agreements, including marketing IP licenses, partnership agreements, supply contracts, and NDAs for Marketing and R&D teams.
- Developing and implementing templates, resources (including playbooks), and training materials on IP and marketing claims.
- Collaborating effectively with global, regional, and local cross-functional teams on marketing activation materials.
- Delivering marketing legal training to employees and promoting the sharing of best practices across various business functions within JDE Peet's.
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Qualifications
We are in search of a qualified attorney with experience in marketing and regulatory consumer compliance within developed markets, along with a robust background in intellectual property. Proficiency in both spoken and written English is essential, as is a solid understanding of advertising, commercial, and intellectual property laws, contract drafting, and regulatory compliance.
We value accountability and responsibility. Given the nature of this role, a minimum of 6 years of post-qualification experience is required, along with a clear understanding of your unique contributions. We thrive in diverse teams and appreciate individuals who share this perspective. While we can provide a list of essential qualifications, we prefer to consider the overall picture of your candidacy. However, for guidance, here are some preferred qualifications:
- Prior in-house experience in the consumer, retail, luxury, or FMCG sectors.
- Experience in an environment where ESG is a primary focus.
- Legally qualified in a common law jurisdiction or the Netherlands.
