We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD candidate to join our team in the Department of Cardiology at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG). The successful candidate will work on a project focused on the development of innovative treatment strategies for heart failure, with a particular emphasis on the role of micronutrient deficiencies in this condition.

• Design and conduct experiments using cell culture, tissue engineering, and histology techniques to investigate the effects of micronutrient deficiencies on heart function
• Analyze data using transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic assays to identify potential targets for treatment
• Collaborate with a medical PhD student to conduct stable isotope targeting studies in patients with severe heart failure
• Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and contribute to the development of an academic dissertation (PhD)

• Master's degree in biomedical or medical sciences
• Experience with cell or animal models of heart disease
• Strong interest in translational cardiology and data analysis
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Able to express themselves in English in writing and verbally
