About this position
TNO is at the forefront of developing powertrains with zero environmental impact. As a powertrain engineer, you will play a crucial role in accelerating the energy transition for challenging powertrain systems in automotive, off-road, and maritime applications.
What will be your role?
You will be working on the development of powertrains for heavy equipment, focusing on combustion engines running on sustainable fuels like hydrogen and methanol. Your expertise will be essential in combining mature engine technology with dedicated technology for these new fuels, enabling the acceleration of CO2 reduction for these challenging powertrains.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement engine modeling and simulation tools for fuel injection, combustion, and aftertreatment.
- Conduct feasibility studies and analyze experimental data to optimize powertrain performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate powertrain systems and ensure seamless operation.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in powertrain technology and apply this knowledge to drive innovation.
What we expect from you
- Strong background in mechanical engineering, thermodynamics, or a related field.
- Experience with computational tools like Matlab and Matlab-Simulink.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
