Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payload System Engineer to join our team at Space Applications Services. As a key member of our International Commercial Experiment (ICE) Cubes Service, you will be responsible for the system engineering of payload infrastructures and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the system engineering of payload infrastructures and facilities, including requirements engineering and verification, system design and interface control, and COTS subsystem selection, procurement, and qualification.
  • Assess safety aspects in the human spaceflight environment and support the assembly, integration, validation, and testing of payloads and flight hardware.
  • Coordinate with customers to develop and certify payloads for our platforms, and establish the technical framework for the extension of our ICE Cubes service to new platforms.
  • Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and customers to ensure successful mission operations.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in space systems, mechanical, or electrical/electronic engineering, or a related field.
  • Good knowledge of the ISS environment for payloads and ISS boundary conditions and Product Assurance & Safety (PA&S) procedures.
  • Experience with full development cycles, from requirements engineering to campaign testing, and a strong ability to cope with schedules and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of project management and familiarity with the ISS operations environment.
  • Experience with CAD tools, flight system/payload hardware development, space system development and verification processes, and space system testing, verification, and qualification.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting and programming for off-the-shelf devices and shell scripting for Linux-based operating systems.
