We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team at Universiteit Utrecht. The successful candidate will be part of a large-scale research project focused on the integration of offshore wind energy into the North Sea region energy system.
Key Responsibilities- Develop advanced energy system models to assess the feasibility of large-scale offshore wind energy deployment in the North Sea region.
- Conduct interdisciplinary research to improve the understanding of energy system integration and its impact on the North Sea region.
- Collaborate with experts from TNO and other PhD projects to advance the knowledge on energy system integration.
- Develop and apply new methods for energy system modelling, including spatially explicit modelling and state-of-the-art methods for representing the electricity system.
- Contribute to the development of scenarios and tools to assess the feasibility of large-scale offshore wind energy deployment in the North Sea region.
- Master's degree in Energy, Environmental and/or Innovation sciences, or Electrical/Computer Engineering with a focus on energy systems modelling.
- Excellent skills in writing and speaking English (C1 level).
- Proven interest in energy scenario analysis methods, policy analysis, and legal and economic aspects.

What We Offer- A position for one year, with an extension to a total of four years upon a successful assessment in the first year.
- A working week of 36 hours and a gross monthly salary between €2,872 and €3,670 in the case of full-time employment.
- 8% holiday pay and 8.3% year-end bonus.
