About the Role

In the STMJ division of Elsevier BV Company, we are seeking a talented Scientific Content Specialist to join our Author Heroes team.

This role is perfect for a driven individual who is passionate about scientific publishing and eager to improve the author experience.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate content in collaboration with external editors;
  • Enhance the editorial process for editors and reviewers through iterative improvements;
  • Work closely with authors to help them enhance their manuscripts;
  • Support authors in increasing their chances of publication in another journal if rejected from their first choice.

Content evaluation is based on questions such as whether the article aligns with the journal's scope, whether the science is sound, whether the results support the main conclusions, whether the authors have chosen an appropriate method, whether the manuscript is of sufficient quality, and whether this is the right journal for the work or if the authors can improve their manuscript to increase their chances of success at another journal.

Requirements

  • Possess a PhD in Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Health and Medical Sciences, or Social Sciences (particularly Economics);
  • Demonstrate a results-driven, experimental, and enthusiastic work attitude;
  • Maintain a record of published papers in scientific journals;
  • Stay technology savvy, familiar with online platforms, social media, and digital content;
  • Exhibit strong communication skills and excellent written and spoken English;
  • Build relationships and act as a self-starter, capable of connecting the scientific community and across Elsevier at different levels within a large international environment;
  • Display broad scientific interest and a desire to serve and help customers in the scientific and clinical community, including authors, editors, and reviewers.
