Financial Manager Job Description

Hyatt Place Amsterdam Airport is seeking a skilled Financial Manager to join their team. As a key member of the Finance Team, you will be responsible for managing the hotel's financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and lead hotel on-site accounting functions and the off-site Shared Service Centre accounting team to ensure proper fiscal management, timely and accurate reporting, and analysis for the hotel.
  • Assist in nurturing the important relationship with the owners, supervising and coordinating owner reporting as required, providing custom reports, responding quickly to questions or requests, and attending financial-related meetings.
  • Complete the year-end internal and external audit process, reviewing and approving all reconciliations and audit work papers, coordinating external auditor's visits, responding to auditor requests, approving any and all adjustments, reconciling the audit numbers to the property numbers, and approving the final audit.
  • Prepare and review all monthly and annual financial statements, investigating, reviewing, and analyzing variance explanations, involving department managers in this process, taking initiative to manage trouble shooting for respective cost controls and revenue enhancement.
  • Lead in the preparation and final review of the annual business plans.
  • Coordinate the Information Technology function together with the Engineering Manager, having a sound understanding of the hotel operational and back office systems as well as Microsoft Office products.
  • Have a sound understanding of the forecasting system and the tools from Revenue Management, reviewing monthly financial forecasts, assuring that the forecast is attainable.
  • Counsel and coach other colleagues to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures.
  • Ensure the hotel is compliant with local laws and Hyatt global policies and procedures.
  • Prepare monthly VAT fillings and yearly city tax fillings.

Requirements:
  • At least one year of work experience in a similar position in a larger hotel operation, or multiple years of experience and ready for the next step.
  • Great language skills in English and preferably in Dutch as well.
  • Good knowledge of the Dutch Regulations.
  • An eye for detail and a good problem solver.
  • Eligible to work in the Netherlands.
  • Ready for a new challenge.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Opera knowledge.
  • Birch Street Knowledge.
  • Experience with a cash recycler machine (we have one from Glory).
  • Financial month end and year-end closing experience.
  • Oracle Hyperion / Smart View knowledge.
  • DUTCH GAAP.
  • Experience in the auditing process by one of the big 4 companies.
