As a European Patent Examiner in Materials Science, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of technology. Our team at the EPO is dedicated to promoting innovation and competitiveness, and we are seeking a talented individual to join our ranks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform end-to-end examination of patent applications in the field of materials science
  • Research and analyze prior art to ensure comprehensive evaluation of inventions
  • Make well-reasoned decisions on patent grants, applying technical knowledge and legal frameworks
  • Ensure uniform and effective application of the European Patent Convention and other legal texts

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a relevant technical field, such as materials science, engineering, or chemistry
  • Excellent knowledge of one of our official languages (English, French, or German) and the ability to understand the other two
  • Work experience in industry is an advantage
  • Citizenship of one of the European Patent Organisation member states
