Cellular Neurophysiology Specialist

Project Overview

The VU Amsterdam is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our research team in the Department of Functional Genomics. The successful candidate will be part of an international research network and will contribute to the development of novel methods for analyzing DCV trafficking and secretion in human neurons.

Research Objectives

• To unravel the mechanisms of DCV trafficking and secretion in neurons, from biogenesis in the soma to fusion at synapses.
• To develop and apply novel methods for detecting DCV trafficking and fusion in human neurons.
• To investigate the role of candidate genes and mutations associated with human brain disorders in DCV trafficking and secretion.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct experiments to investigate DCV trafficking and secretion in human neurons.
• Develop and apply novel methods for detecting DCV trafficking and fusion in human neurons.
• Analyze data and contribute to the development of novel research papers and presentations.
• Collaborate with international research networks and contribute to the development of novel research projects.

Requirements

• Master's degree in biomedical sciences, with a specialization in neuroscience.
• Previous experience in molecular and cellular neuroscience, especially with the methods described above.
• Hands-on experience with image analysis and programming.
• Motivation to pursue a career in science.
