Senior Mechanical Engineer

Winthrop Technologies is a leading data centre delivery partner providing turnkey solutions to clients across Europe. We are currently seeking two Senior Mechanical Engineers to join our expanding team in Amsterdam.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will support the mechanical delivery element of our projects, working closely with the wider project team. Your primary focus will be on designing and implementing mechanical systems for our data centres, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities will include:
- Completing mechanical design reviews to identify design gaps and deviations.
- Generating detailed RFI's to address any ambiguity or potential design issues.
- Validating equipment sizing and making recommendations as appropriate.
- Managing submittals through the approvals process and tracking procurement and delivery of electrical equipment.
- Completing mechanical system walk-downs to ensure systems are compliant with specifications, drawings, and the Winthrop Integrated Management System.
- Managing, reviewing, and coordinating mechanical services in conjunction with other disciplines and the project BIM team.
- Advising and guiding sub-contracted staff on all technical aspects of the project.
- Ensuring sub-contractor compliance with all site and project requirements, including operational and health & safety obligations.
- Preparing method statements and risk assessments for construction activities.
- Coordinating with the project team to sequence the installation of mechanical systems in the most efficient and safe way.
- Applying troubleshooting techniques to identify problems and apply corrective actions.
- Managing document control to ensure all logs are kept up to date.
Requirements for the role include:
- A relevant qualification, such as a degree in Mechanical Engineering, is essential.
- At least 5 years of previous experience in a similar role, within a mechanical and electrical contracting environment, is required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems pertaining to data centre environments is essential.
- Ability to maintain good customer relationships with other contractors while working on sites is required.
- Proficiency in the use of MS Word and Excel is necessary.
