Senior AI Data Analyst for Climate Change Impact Assessment

Deltares is seeking a highly skilled Senior AI Data Analyst to join its team in the Netherlands. This is a full-time fixed-term contract for at least 3 years, with a salary based on experience, up to €5,872 per month (40 hours/week).
About the RoleThe successful candidate will provide support in applying Artificial Intelligence to compile and review Working Group II reports, enhancing report preparation processes by automating searches, classification, processing review comments, clustering research articles, producing maps, and performing consistency checks.
The main tasks include:
- Providing AI support by selecting and testing relevant algorithms and packages, prototyping their application, and guiding authors in their use.
- Procuring, configuring, maintaining, backing up, securing, and modernizing AI packages at dedicated server platforms.
- Developing, testing, and validating custom machine learning algorithms tailored to the IPCC drafting process, using techniques from current scientific literature where suitable.
- Supporting additional AI-driven tasks that arise during the reports' preparation.
- Jointly providing basic IT support with the TSU's IT Officer.
The ideal candidate will have either a degree in Computer Sciences & Internet Technology or Literature Analysis, with demonstrated skills in deploying AI in academic environments, including text mining and analysis.
Requirements- Operational experience with AI end-to-end systems, particularly text processing, data mining, and natural language processing.
- Proven skills in replicating and adapting open-source applications and packages available on developer platforms like GitHub or GitLab.
- Adequate IT Infrastructure Knowledge, including understanding of servers, networking, storage systems, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and familiarity with Windows, Macintosh, Linux, networks, database software, backup systems, Python, and ITIL framework and processes.
- Excellent oral and written English at a technical level.
- International travel is required for IT support at meetings.
