Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Damage Prevention Specialist to join our team at Zayo. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of our network and company assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot network equipment and identify potential problem areas to prevent damage to our infrastructure.
  • Analyze blueprints and maps to determine the location and depth of utilities such as water, sewer, gas, cable, oil, and electric lines.
  • Document interactions, site information, and utilities in organizational software to ensure accurate records.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, engineers, and management to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Use various techniques, including electrical, magnetic, GPS, and radar, to measure utilities and pinpoint their coordinates.
  • Proactively identify potential problem areas and implement solutions to ensure the integrity of our network and company assets.
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving of company and customer materials, and maintain tools, test sets, and network equipment.
  • Maintain network/site security, cleanliness, and follow all policies related to company property.
  • Inspect cabinets, buried cable, construction sites, and other outdoor facilities in various environments and weather conditions.
  • Engage, monitor, and evaluate the performance of vendor/contractors completing work on behalf of the company.
  • Work in both individual and team environments, collaborating with other teams to achieve common goals.
Requirements
  • Must live/be able to get to designated area within 30 minutes.
  • 0-1 years of relevant experience in field construction tasks.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Previous experience in site development, underground installations, utility locating, fiber optic cable builds, preferred.
  • Proficiency using computer, cell phone, test equipment, Microsoft Windows operating system, and Office applications.
  • Ability to operate on-call 24/7/365 on a rotating schedule, including standby, call out, dispatch, and overtime, as required by the business.
  • Must follow all personal safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to maintain eligibility to operate a company-issued vehicle per our policy.
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
