Role Overview

Adyen is looking for a highly skilled software engineer to join our Data Solution team in Amsterdam. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for building and training the brain behind the Adyen platform, with a focus on scaling access to the intelligence and capabilities businesses need to realize their biggest ambitions.

What You'll Do:

  • Work on complex technical projects from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing, and launch into production.
  • Offer support and technical guidance in software architectural discussions.
  • Identify and improve parts of the platform to make it more robust and scalable.
  • Bring your own point of view on best engineering practices.
  • Your code will be used at scale, and you are expected to think in that mindset when building features.
  • Build data products and tooling according to quality principles such as performance and code quality.
  • Collaborate across teams and sometimes across time zones to get projects over the finish line.
  • Establish and spread best coding solutions across the Data Solution and beyond.

Requirements:

  • You have excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in front of different stakeholders.
  • You have experience with Core Java, web services, REST APIs, and SQL/PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledgeable of various software architecture paradigms such as event-driven or message queueing systems.
  • You have experience in deploying on containers.
  • You have a good understanding of Software Engineering practices and interest in product knowledge.
  • You are familiar with complex large-scale distributed systems.
  • You like to challenge the status quo and ask the 'why' question.
  • You enjoy working in a cross-functional team with roles like Data Science, Frontend, and Product.
  • You have a sharp eye for detail, and know how to balance precision with pragmatism.
  • You love learning new things and can make good choices based on thorough research.
  • You value involving other people to hear different perspectives.
  • You have an experimental mindset with a launch fast and iterate mentality.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with Machine Learning is a plus.
