We are seeking a talented Junior xR Developer to join our creative and skilled team at Damen Shipyards, where you will be instrumental in developing innovative Virtual Reality (VR) training solutions for the naval sector.

As a Junior xR Developer at Damen Shipyards, you will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team that shares your passion for immersive technologies and their applications in the naval sector. Our team is dedicated to creating cutting-edge VR experiences that enhance the capabilities of naval professionals and contribute to their safety and effectiveness.

Job Description

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from conceptualization to deployment, and will be responsible for designing, building, and refining immersive VR environments and serious games for training purposes.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with developers, subject matter experts, solution architects, and xR artists to create engaging and realistic VR experiences;
  • Translating functional requirements into well-structured, maintainable, and extendable code using C# programming and Unity Engine;
  • Delivering high-quality code increments within agreed schedules, quality standards, and cost parameters;
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable requirements and specifications;
  • Contributing to process improvements and fostering knowledge sharing within the team;
Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, the ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

  • Bachelor's degree in software development, preferably game development, with demonstrable experience;
  • Proficiency in C# programming, Unity Engine, and xR development, with a focus on VR applications;
  • Familiarity with data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and design patterns;
  • Experience with Python, the Blender API, and relational databases is a plus;
  • Strong command of English both written and verbal, with proficiency in Dutch and/or German being a bonus;
  • Competencies: customer, quality, and results-oriented, creative, flexible, self-organized, with strong teamwork skills;
  • Excellent references and antecedents, with a pre-assignment security screening as part of the recruitment procedure;
Estimated Salary: €55,000 - €65,000 per year

This salary estimate is based on the job title, location, and required skills. We offer a competitive compensation package, including benefits such as a travel allowance, PME-pension arrangement, profit-sharing, working from home policy, and other perks.

Please note that this is an on-site position at the Damen Shipyards office in Vlissingen, the Netherlands.
