JACOBS DOUWE EGBERTS, a leading global coffee and tea company, is seeking an experienced Global Data Scientist to join its team. Located in Utrecht, Netherlands, this role offers a unique opportunity for professionals to drive business growth through data-driven insights.

The estimated salary range for this position is €80,000 - €120,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. This figure reflects the industry standards for similar roles in the Netherlands and takes into account the cost of living in Utrecht.

Job Description

This role will be part of our dynamic Professional division, where you will work closely with stakeholders to develop and implement data-driven solutions that address complex business challenges. You will be responsible for:

  • Developing innovative data strategies that drive business growth and profitability;
  • Oversight of Data Science requirements and best practices across the Professional division;
  • Fostering a global community of Data Scientists and promoting the adoption of industry standards;
  • Collaborating with various business teams to provide insights and leadership on Data Science strategies;
  • Guiding markets on how to leverage Data Science to maximize their potential within the Professional division;
  • Performing scientific analyses across different regions to turn data into actionable insights on a global scale;
  • Applying advanced machine learning techniques for feature selection and predictive modeling;
  • Presenting findings to both technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Staying current with industry trends and bringing innovative Data Science practices to the team.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field;
  • At least 5 years of combined IT and business experience, demonstrating strategic impact;
  • Proficiency in R and Python programming;
  • Experience with SQL and No SQL database query languages;
  • Strong grasp of statistical techniques like regression, distributions, and maximum likelihood estimators;
  • Competency with machine learning methods, such as k-Nearest Neighbors, Naive Bayes, SVM, and Decision Forests;
  • Knowledge of Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra for predictive analytics and optimization;
  • Ability to create compelling visualizations using tools like Power BI;
  • Skill at motivating teams and collaborating effectively with others.
