We are responsible for the creation, delivery, and management of our digital products and services by leveraging both new and established technologies alongside agile methodologies to ensure rapid delivery.

Simultaneously, we cultivate a space for digital expertise to grow and enhance the technical, interpersonal, and business skills necessary for the ongoing advancement of our digital capabilities.

Our diverse IKEA App Team operates from various locations and collaborates within one or more of our specialized teams.

These teams are dedicated to enhancing every facet of online and offline shopping experiences through our application.

The application you will contribute to is highly valued by our extensive user base.

We operate within product-focused Agile Scrum teams. Each team comprises its own Designers, QA Engineers, Data Scientists, and Software Engineers. You will have the opportunity to focus on your strengths and interests, whether that be Android, iOS, or backend development. If you wish to explore Node.js, GraphQL, or TypeScript instead of Android, that is perfectly acceptable.

Candidate Profile
We are seeking a dedicated Android Software Engineer to enhance our exceptional IKEA app team.

You possess a strong ability to produce high-quality code in Kotlin for Android while promoting best practices.

Your inquisitive nature drives you to continuously seek new knowledge, skills, and innovative methods to enhance performance.

Being curious will empower you to adapt based on fresh ideas, approaches, and strategies. You will be encouraged to work in an agile manner and pursue ongoing improvements within the software engineering domain. By fostering simplicity, efficiency, ownership, and accountability, you will find it easy to collaborate with others to achieve shared objectives.

To excel as an Android Software Engineer, you should have advanced training in computer science or equivalent experience, staying updated with current best practices in your field.

Moreover, you should have proven experience working in an agile environment where you take ownership of development, quality assurance, and maintenance of deliverables.

You thrive on delivering high-quality software in an agile setting where understanding our end users is paramount. Experience in backend development is a plus.

Your Responsibilities

As an Android Software Engineer, your primary responsibilities will encompass:

  • Developing, ensuring quality, and maintaining high-quality code for the native Android IKEA application written in Kotlin.
- Collaborating within agile teams across various capability areas, contributing to the development and upkeep of products and solutions.
- Implementing and adhering to sound software engineering practices (e.g., DRY principles, TDD and BDD, continuous integration, automated testing, pair programming, code reviews) within an agile/iterative development framework.
- Offering support and guidance to fellow developers within the team, promoting best practices.
- Contributing to the ongoing development of standards for software development and exploring new technologies to enhance innovation and productivity.
- Collaborating closely with other software engineers and cross-functional teams to produce necessary design specifications and ensure digital solutions align with business requirements.
