Strategic Steel Sourcing Manager

Greif is a leading supplier of industrial packaging products and services, with a global footprint across over 35 countries and 200-plus locations. We are seeking a Strategic Steel Sourcing Manager to drive the strategic direction of steel sourcing across EMEA.

The successful candidate will report to Greif's Senior Director of Global Sourcing and will be responsible for implementing a plan that balances both local and regional trends, through their understanding of the steel MEPS index. This role would suit an analytical person who is decisive and eager to make a difference to the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, drive and implement new cost reduction opportunities, including action plans.
  • Support the Global Sr. Director Sourcing for Steel, Utilities and Operation Equipment, as well as the Global Supply Chain team.
  • Source all strategic steel and steel component demand in EMEA and define the overall sourcing strategy, including a multi-year sourcing roadmap for strategic suppliers.
  • Work closely with a leading team of technicians to reduce cost, increase efficiency and reduce Greif's CO2 footprint.
  • Liaise with Engineering and Project Teams to develop the sourcing strategy for Steel and Steel Components, drive and support the make or buy process.
  • Collate specifications, technical and quality requirements and produce detailed RFQs for formal issue to the Supply Chain.
  • Develop and implement standard tendering documentation, research and evaluate suppliers, and negotiate terms and conditions, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

Requirements:

  • Able to demonstrate significant category management and sourcing experience.
  • Able to demonstrate steel market knowledge in relation to manufacturing, to be the expert for Greif on buying and material trends.
  • A hunger to drive cost reduction and process efficiency improvements.
  • Able to demonstrate agility in adapting to business changes.
  • Able to influence others as part of a change management expertise.
