Senior Enterprise Applications Engineer - IC - G We are looking for a Senior Enterprise Application Engineer for Booking.com's Central Tech Business Unit in the Business Applications team, part of the Productivity & Collaboration Track within the IT Services organization in Central Tech. This role is based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The purpose of this role is to enhance and maintain the enterprise applications that support Booking.com's operations, contributing to the overall efficiency and productivity of the company. Responsibilities Business Acumen, Consultancy: Understand business principles and provide expert advice to solve business challenges. Stakeholder Management, Collaboration, Communication: Engage with all parties involved, collaborate effectively, and convey information clearly to achieve shared goals. Analysis, Innovation, Problem-Solving: Examine information to identify issues, develop creative solutions, and resolve complex challenges. Leadership, Strategic Planning, Change Management, Mentoring: Guide and inspire teams, facilitate smooth transitions during organizational changes, and support the development of others, while providing excellent client support and developing long-term objectives. Systems Design: Evaluate architecture solutions, lead technical delivery, describe system implications, design and defend solutions, with knowledge in data storage/security and system health improvement. Technical Incident Management: Address production issues, improve reliability via root cause analysis, track incidents, triage/prioritize, and monitor systems. Automation and Toil Reduction: Maintain infrastructure currency, reduce technical debt, optimize for scaling, ensure cost-efficient operations, reduce manual work with software features, apply cloud technology, and operate in a DevOps model. Production Systems Best Practices: Secure production systems, ensure compliance (SOx, PCI, PII, GDPR), resiliency and uptime, run backup/restore procedures, and have knowledge of configuration management and data retention. Qualifications & Skills Experience in software development with proficiency in one of the following languages: Java, SQL, Python, et al. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the specialty as equivalent. At least 5 years of engineering experience, including 3+ years managing SaaS applications used for productivity and collaboration (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack, Glean, Blink, JIRA, Confluence or similar). Business Applications Acumen: Strong understanding of business applications and in-depth knowledge of Booking.com-like business processes. Problem-Solving & Communication: Proactive, results-driven, analytical mindset with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with technologies such as Mulesoft, GitLab, or AWS, and a deep understanding of AI technologies.
