Here's what we'll do together:As Senior Sustainability Manager , you will play a pivotal role in executing G-Star's sustainability strategy. This role requires a deep understanding of sustainability in the fashion and apparel sector, as well as the ability to collaborate across departments and industry.
This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in navigating external relationships, particularly in the context of risk mitigation.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to advance sustainability initiatives and ensure effective progress.
The Senior Sustainability Manager will report to Head of Sustainability and work at our HQ in Amsterdam.
Your tasks & responsibilities:
External Stakeholder Collaboration: Cultivate and maintain relationships with external stakeholders; NGOs, regulatory bodies, industry associations, and community groups. Represent the organization in sustainability-related forums and initiatives. Collaborate with external partners to identify shared sustainability goals and drive collective action. Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of evolving sustainability regulations and ensure the organization's compliance. Work with concerned departments to address regulatory sustainability requirements. Monitor performance against key sustainability performance indicators. Risk Identification and Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify and evaluate sustainability-related risks affecting the organization. Stay informed about emerging trends and risks that may impact the organization. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified sustainability risks and work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure improvement. Reporting and Communication: Prepare clear and concise reports on sustainability risks, mitigation strategies, and progress for internal and external stakeholders. Improve internal and external sustainability communications channels. Engagement with Supply Chain Partners: Develop and implement initiatives to improve sustainability practices throughout the supply chain. Collaborate with suppliers and partners to assess and manage sustainability risks within the supply chain. Accountable for: Stay updated on and addressing regulatory requirements Managing memberships Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for sustainability initiatives. Prepare regular reports detailing progress, impact, and areas for improvement. Drive a culture of continuous improvement in sustainability practices. Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends. What you bring to the table:
Master's Degree in a relevant subject area (e.g. Sustainability, Social Science, Corporate Responsibility, Business or Economics). 6+ years within an international Apparel, Fashion and/or Retail industry environment. Proven experience in sustainability roles with a focus on external stakeholder engagement and risk management. In-depth knowledge of sustainability standards, regulations, and best practices. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage/interact and develop partnerships with various internal and external stakeholders. Excellent written communication and presentation skills in English. Analytical mindset with the ability to identify, assess, and prioritize risks. Ability to look for opportunities to improve and drive change in your focus areas. Positive, energetic and solution oriented. What we bring to the table:
