Bring your knowledge to life and show students how to put applied economics into practice in successful business and entrepreneurship. As a lecturer (0.6-1 FTE) at the Academy for Hotel & Facility (AHF) you will inspire, supervise, and develop course content and application-based materials as needed. No better place to do all this than at our specialist, small-scale institute on our sustainable and high-tech campus close to the city centre of Breda.

As a lecturer in Applied Economics (0.6-1 FTE) at the Academy for Hotel & Facility Management (AHF) you will be educating our bachelor's students on how to put applied economics into practice in successful businesses and entrepreneurship. Hotel Management focuses on creating and managing guest experiences that are unique, special and personal. Facility Management focuses on developing solutions while meeting all facility requirements in public spaces such as shopping centres, airports, hospitals, schools, and corporate workplaces. Your role includes providing academic advice and support to students, fostering their personal and professional development. 

You will be preparing and delivering lectures, workshops, and seminars, as well as developing course materials, such as documents, slides, and videos. You will also be setting and marking assignments, tests and exams. You will meet with students individually and work closely with colleagues involved in various activities within the academy and Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas). Moreover, you will continue developing your external network, this way contributing to student recruitment, securing placements, and building relationships for future activities. 

In our educational vision, project based-learning - a student-centred pedagogy that organises learning around projects, where students collaborate on complex problems and questions - is paramount. By actively working on real problems, students are encouraged to apply their knowledge immediately. They also develop skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, communication, self-management, project management, and collaboration. You are the person connecting these projects, different students, industry, knowledge and practice together to create meaningful learning experiences. • The salary for this position amounts to a monthly minimum of €4,535.76 and a maximum of €6,359.47 (gross amounts based on full-time employment);    
• This position is classified as scale 11 of the cao-hbo (collective labour agreement). Your official job title will be that of lecturer;    
• This position involves a one-year employment contract with the possibility of conversion into an indefinite employment contract subject to organisational developments;   
• Your commuting expenses will be fully reimbursed when you travel by public transport;   
• You will receive a contribution towards your health insurance costs; 
• You will build up an attractive pension through the ABP pension fund;   
• You will receive an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and an annual holiday allowance of 8%;   
• You will also be awarded professional development hours every year and almost eleven weeks of holiday entitlements in a full-time position;   
• With this position you will get the chance to further shape our state-of-the-art curriculum and programme;  
• You will be working in a close-knit team of lecturers with knowledge and experience of hotel and facility management;   
• Lines of communication within our academy are short and staff are easily contactable. At the Academy for Hotel & Facility Management (AHF), we work and learn in close cooperation, whether you are a student, lecturer, or manager; 
• Working at AHF also offers crossovers to other interesting knowledge areas within Tourism and Leisure;

• You have a relevant business master's degree; 
• Apart from having a firm grasp of micro and macroeconomics, you are also able to segue from economics to managerial topics such as management accounting, marketing, ESG and strategy development; 
• You are passionate about your work and would like to share this passion with our students and others. You have creative and fresh ideas on how to share this information and knowledge;  
• You are at the forefront of the latest developments within the field of applied economics, and are able to translate this into innovation education; 
• You are able to effectively engage with, and therefore are aware of, all cultures, and able to successfully navigate a multicultural society; 
• You have teaching experience in higher professional education or are willing to obtain a teaching certificate; 
• You are a networker who enjoys working in a team, and see teaching as a team effort in which you would like to contribute; 
• You will be working in an international and intercultural setting. Therefore, having excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Dutch is a necessity.
