**About the position**

The Food Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that all products and processes meet the highest standards of food safety compliance. This role plays a critical part in protecting consumer health, supporting innovation, and maintaining the integrity of Flora Food Group food safety systems. Working cross-functionally with R&D, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Quality teams, the Food Safety Manager leads risk assessments, develops and maintains safety standards, and drives continuous improvement across the organization.

You will report into the Global Director Quality & Food Safety.

You will:

- Own and continuously update food safety standards, material risk assessments, contaminant protocols, and allergen management frameworks.
- Provide expert support to R&D, Quality and Supply Chain teams to guide safe product development and market release decisions (including 3rd party manufacturers).
- Lead comprehensive food safety risk assessments for new product designs and out-of-specification (OOS) cases, ensuring that no unsafe products are released to market.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement robust ways of working for managing high
- and low-risk materials, including new ingredients.
- Ensure all innovation projects complete the risk assessment process.
- Monitor food safety performance across operations, ensuring alignment with HACCP, GMP, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Act as a key point of contact for food safety-related audits, inspections, and stakeholder queries.
- Lead and guide a team of Microbiologists and Toxicologist.
- Provide strong leadership and foster team development: build and empower your team to work independently, encourage proactive problem-solving, mentor team members, and promote scientific excellence—ensuring food safety remains a core value across all functions while contributing to the strategic development of food safety science within the organization.

**So what does it take to be successful in this role?**

You are a food safety professional with a Master's degree in Food Safety, Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field, and bring at least five years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance within the food industry. You have a strong understanding of HACCP, GMP, and key food safety regulations (EU/FDA/CODEX), along with proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex safety programs. Certification in food safety risk assessment or HACCP is a plus. You combine excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills with a proactive, collaborative approach to ensuring the highest standards of product safety and compliance.
