**What will be your role?**:
Your main responsibilities will include:

- Innovative Research & Strategy: Develop strategies and novel formulations for PFAS alternatives by integrating diverse scientific insights.
- Thought Leadership: Serve as the main technical authority on complex projects, mentoring and guiding multidisciplinary teams to achieve breakthrough results. You will also have the possibility to work as a part-time professor at a university should this align with your role at TNO.
- Collaboration & Networking: Leverage your strong network in both academia and industry to start new collaborations.
- Technical Lead: Lead the preparation of proposals and serve as the Principal Investigator in multidisciplinary projects involving consortium partners, subcontractors, TNO colleagues, and regulatory stakeholders. Publish your research in leading journals and represent TNO at international conferences.
- Strategic Development: Contribute to TNO’s long-term research direction by identifying new scientific trends and business opportunities.

**What we expect from you**:
Other qualifications include:

- A Ph.D. in chemistry or a related discipline, with specialization in colloids, nanoparticles, or polymer physics.
- At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in developing innovative chemical systems (e.g., emulsions, polymers, coatings).
- A strong understanding of laboratory techniques such as FTIR, Raman, UV/VIS, fluorescence, and DSC/TGA is essential.
- In addition to this, you can utilize instrumentation in innovative ways and develop custom analysis approaches for clients and partners.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams and mentoring junior scientists.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
