Postdoctoral Researcher Immuno-oncology

2 weken geleden

Utrecht, Nederland Prinses Máxima Centrum Voltijd

In the Clevers group at the Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology, we are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with immuno-oncology expertise.

**The project**

We are looking for an enthusiastic postdoc with immuno-oncology expertise. We have several ongoing projects that focus on immunotherapy using pediatric cancer organoid models. We expect you to take the lead in our immuno-oncology related projects. Co-supervising PhD students will be part of your daily routine.

**Profile**

First, you are capable of independently conducting a research project and effectively communicating the results. You demonstrate creativity and innovation in driving cutting-edge research, with a strong publication record. Additionally, you possess the ability to co-supervise (PhD) students in their daily work.

Further requirements include:

- A PhD in molecular cell biology, immuno-oncology, cancer biology, immunology, or a related field.
- A demonstrable expertise in one or more of the following areas: molecular cell biology & immunology, immuno-oncology, immunopeptidomics, singe-cell RNAseq, CRISPR.

**Our job offer**

We provide a full-time position (36 hours) in a stimulating research environment with ample opportunities for professional development. You will initially be appointed for the duration of one year, with a possible extension. Your gross monthly salary will depend on your experience and background, starting in scale 60 with 8,33% gross monthly salary holiday allowance and 8,33 % end-of-year bonus. The Princess Máxima Center operates according to the collective labor agreement ‘cao algemene ziekenhuizen’.

**The Clevers group**

To achieve the Princess Máxima Center’s mission, it is vital that we can make use of relevant experimental in vitro models for functional studies of pediatric tumor biology. Historically, cancer cell lines have been used extensively for cancer research, but these exist for only a limited number of pediatric cancer entities. Additionally, they are very difficult to generate and, because of the in vitro adaptation process, rather poorly represent the original tumor. In the past decade, a new model has emerged to study human cancers: tumor-derived organoids (TDOs). In the Máxima Clevers group, we focus on the generation of pediatric TDO models from brain
- and solid tumors, and use these for fundamental and translational research. We mainly focus on Ewing(-like) sarcomas, craniopharyngiomas, ependymomas, and (other) rare pediatric cancers. We use these pediatric cancer organoids to study the mechanisms of malignant transformation and develop novel therapies.

**The Princess Máxima Center**

The Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology is an integrated hospital and research institute, which integrates healthcare, research and education on pediatric cancer, in a single location in Utrecht. Our institute aims to provide the highest level of care for all children with cancer, with optimal quality of life. The center brings together the best possible care and scientific research, creating a unique interdisciplinary institute for pediatric oncology in Europe.
